JUMPER AUCTION
2009 SIGNED JUMPER AUCTION
Sydney Tigers have a 2009 Richmond jumper signed by the whole playing squad.
Bids for this jumper can me made by email to maunds@hotmail.com.
Bidding commences at 6-00PM and concludes at 8-00PM
Highest Bid will be updated on this website
ANOTHER SEASON ENDS
Firstly it has been correctly pointed out to me that the Auction
for the signed Richmond jumper commencing at 6-00PM tonight
is not really a silent auction, given that the highest bid is updated on the website.
So let’s just call it an email auction with the highest bid at 8-00PM announced the winner.
Now onto this season, sadly another poor season for Richmond.
Didn’t meet our expectations and again another disappointment.
Started bad from Carlton and went down hill after that, not many good moments.
Finished on a bad note with a very poor performance against West Coast.
Sad to see Mark Coughlan and Nathan Brown play their last games, injuries have roobed
these two fine players of a better finish to their careers.
It is hard to argue with the decison by RFC to let them go.
There was agroup of us at the pub working out who will join them
and their is a fairly long list.
What’s disappointing is the team couldn’t lift to give these two boys the send oof they
deserved.
That’s why the whole culture of the RFC needs to change and hopefully Brendan Gale
and importantly Damien Hardwick.
So another finals series of watching other teams and a summer waiting for
pre season to begin and new hope that Richmond will become a winning team.
Thanks to all those who made it to the pub to watch games,be aware that Grand Final
Day will again take place at the Camelia Grove Hotel.
Finally for those that are interested.
The Bankstown Under 16’s I coach went down to Cronulla by 3 goals in the Grand Final.
Very tricky windy conditions yesterday and they handled them better.
Fair to say I wouldn’t win an argument at the moment.
Stay stafe and bewt wishes to all
RICHMOND midfielder Brett Deledio has paid a glowing tribute to departing stars Mark Coughlan and Nathan Brown and pledged that the Tigers will make a fresh start in 2010.
Both Coughlan, the 2003 Jack Dyer medallist, and dual All-Australian Brown had their careers cut down by serious injuries but remained respected throughout the competition for their courage and commitment.
They played their final game for the Tigers in a humiliating 80-point loss to the West Coast Eagles at Subiaco Oval on Friday night in a match which also marked the end of Jade Rawlings’ 11-week tenure as caretaker coach.
Deledio said the trio deserved a better send-off.
“I’m just gutted for Nathan Brown and Mark Coughlan and for Jade, to send them out on that sort of note was disappointing,†he said.
“Jade took on a big role and I thought he put his best foot forward and it just didn’t work out.
“We really embarrassed ourselves out there. It was disappointing to finish in that way and not send them out on a good note.
“But we move on to bigger and better things next year. We’ve got a fresh start and it’s going to be hard work but we’re looking forward to that.â€
Deledio said there was a sombre atmosphere in the Tiger rooms after the loss as Brown and Coughlan quietly went around thanking their teammates.
“I felt a little bit emotional because I’ve grown pretty close to both those two boys,†he said.
“But they didn’t show too many signs of emotion (and) they didn’t break down or anything like that. They’re in good spirits considering (and) they’ve been fantastic in the way they’ve gone about what’s happened.
“I was lucky enough to live with Cogs when I first came down and he taught me a lot of stuff about how to look after my body. He was first rate in his preparation and recovery and pretty much just looking after his own body. (He’s) a real hard nut and he inspires you when he’s out there playing.
“Nathan Brown, he’s that cherry on top. He’s that bit of class.
“That 2005 season, before he broke his leg, I think he would have smoked home our best and fairest and would have gone pretty well in the Brownlow as well. He’s gone from being our class finisher to having to play a different sort of role in the last couple of weeks because of his injuries and where he was. So a credit to Nate, he’s worked very hard on his body.â€
Brown and Coughlan join former skipper Kane Johnson and Joel Bowden as departures from the club and Deledio signalled they may be joined by others as the Tigers look to rebuild for 2010.
“I think that Damien Hardwick said that there’s going to be a bit more pain before we achieve the success and that might mean a clean out of the list. We’ve seen a couple of older players, our classy players, leave us and retire.
“We now strip everything back and start afresh and I think our biggest problem is our skills at the moment, we need to be kicking the footy as much as we can.
“It’s all stuff to work on, so it’s not all doom and gloom.â€

RICHMOND COACH
Damien Hardwick has been formally announced as Richmond’s new coach tomorrow for 3 years.
For mine would have been happy with either Ken Hinckley or Damien Hardwick.
Hardwick does have a good background as a player and Assistant Coach with Hawthorn.
He has a massive job but I reckon that you will see a different Tigers team going
forward.
A very tough uncomprimising player hopefully Damien Hardwick will bring
this to the Richmond Football Club and we will start to earn respect.
We are making money, the new development has commenced,it’s time for
Richmond to become a hard nosed, winning football team again.
So let’s hope this brings much desired success to the Club and its long suffering
supporters,we have been the butt of too many jokes for far too long.
Just a reminder that the West Coast game commences at 8-40 EST on Friday
and will be shown at the Camelia Grove Hotel and they will stay open until
12-00AM when the game finishes.
There will 5 Nando’s gift vouchers as Lucky door prizes.
