FOOTY’S BACK

After a week off it’s good to have footy back again.

This week’s game is a massive challenge against a very good team.
A few in’s as below,Jarrod Silvester, key defender, don’t know a lot about him, think he may have played a NAB cup game, but again good to see players getting the opportunity.
There is nothing to lose blooding players, let’s just hope Richmond give a good account of themselves, this will be a test and will see what influence Jade Rawlings has had on the team.
As usual the game will be shown live at Camelia Grove Hotel on Sunday, coverage from
about 4-00PM,game starts at 4-40pm.
There is a Nando’s gift voucher as a lucy door prize.
Hope to see you there.

RICHMOND interim coach Jade Rawlings is set to unveil his second youngster in just his second game in charge.
Jarrod Silvester will take his place in the Tigers line-up along with Tyrone Vickery, who made his AFL debut against West Coast in the first week of the split round.
Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls will also return to the side while Jake King is in contention, named in the extended squad for Sunday’s match against undefeated St Kilda.
Silvester was elevted from the rookie list on Thursday to fill the spot created by Matthew Richardson’s move to the long-term injury list several weeks ago.
The 24-year-old is listed as 192cm and 90kg, but has packed on a bit more weight this year.
Football manager Ross Monaghan told richmondfc.com.au that the Tigers had been looking for a chance to give Silvester a shot.
“We’ve got another first-gamer, which is good,” Monaghan said.
“Jarrod Silvester will play – he’ll be named in the back six.
“His form at Coburg has been terrific this year and we’ve just been waiting for an opportunity for him to play. We just decided to give him a challenge this week against one of the better teams in the competition.
“Because it’s a Sunday game we’ve got no outs. We’ve just added three to the squad.
“Jake had a good game last week against Port Melbourne and we’ll name Jarrad in the side, as his form has been pretty steady at VFL level.”
Monaghan said Richardson had made some promising progression and was now running well.
“He hasn’t done any training yet, but he’s doing plenty of running and he’s probably ahead of schedule from that point-of-view,” he said.
“This will be his eighth week on the long-term injury list, so technically he could play next week but he’s obviously not going to.”

TIGERS WIN

A bit rare at the moment,a Tigers win,so we appreciate it that much more.
Well done to Jade Rawlings on a win first up,the changes were good.

Shane Edwards for one looked a much better player,Ty Vickery showed some good signs,
I like the way Tom Hislop goes about it,could be the hard man we need,we don’t
have too many unfortunately.

This was a good team performance.and they looked as though they were enjoying themeslves.
It must be said when the game was up for grabs,Ben Cousins was busting his gut in the last quarter,he has been a good recruit, and why not him going around again next year.
He loves being at the Tigers and by all accounts is a great influence on the playing group.
Luke McGuane was also great down back,he has become a very good defender.
Mitch Morton was great up forward and what about the imrovement of Daniel Jackson this year,he did a great job on Daniel Kerr.
So good to have a win, let’s hope the team keeps playing with free spirit.
No game next week, split round, next game Sunday 28th of June 4-40PM v St Kilda at Etihad.
My oh my this will be a big challenge,St Kilda are a side that puts constant pressure on the opposition so that will test us out.
Another good crowd at Camelia Grove, thanks to those who attended.

JADE Rawlings has engineered Richmond’s third win of the season in his first game in charge with his side dispatching West Coast by 15 points at Docklands on Saturday night.
The fresh approach breathed new life into the Tigers, who jumped the Eagles with their best first quarter of the season before holding their nerve to see off a late challenge for the 13.14 (92) to 11.11 (77) victory.
For a match that threatened to be completely overrun by sub-plots – Rawlings, Ben Cousins pitted against his former side and debuts for Eagle Nic Naitanui and Tiger Tyrone Vickery – the contests around the ground were absorbing.
Even so, Cousins was prominent – particularly early in the last quarter – with his 28 possessions a major factor in the victory.
Richard Tambling was also outstanding for Richmond with 28 possessions and Nathan Foley (31) and Shane Tuck (30) found plenty of the ball.
Daniel Jackson got the job on Daniel Kerr and he won a spiteful-at-times battle in keeping West Coast’s dangerman to 18 largely ineffective disposals.
Ex-Eagle Mitch Morton booted five goals for Richmond while Josh Kennedy was West Coast’s leading scorer with four.
David Wirrpanda was influential for the visitors with 23 possessions and got plenty of support from Matt Priddis (33) and Chris Masten (29).
Gun youngsters Vickery and Naitanui showed plenty of promise. The Tiger finished with eight touches and a goal and the Eagle gathered 11 possessions and took a towering grab late in the game.
In the first quarter, the Tigers were many things they haven’t been so far this season – quick to play on, accurate by foot and able to mark the ball inside 50 – and it paid off handsomely.
Angus Graham was an unlikely first goalkicker after he made the most of some poor defence to mark Tambling’s pass. When Morton added the next two, Richmond was away.
Naitanui trotted onto the ground at the 10-minute mark and took up a position in attack, but it was Kennedy who registered his side’s first goal soon after.
However, the Tigers were their worst enemies in front of goal and a run of four behinds in succession ruined an otherwise magnificent start to Rawlings’ coaching tenure.
They soon got the radar working, however, with Morton and Brett Deledio giving their side an imposing 30-point lead. But Priddis, with a nice assist from Naitanui, dragged it back to 24 points shortly before the first break.
Kennedy took over from Morton as the most dangerous forward on the ground in the second quarter with the former Blue banging through three goals to reignite the Eagles’ challenge.
But while the Tigers weren’t able to move the ball at the same pace in the second term, they still managed to maintain a handy lead. Shane Edwards, Jack Riewoldt and Tom Hislop did the damage, but when Mitch Brown bounced through a goal from a Richmond turnover inside the last minute of the half there were only three goals in it.
Richmond managed to keep West Coast at arm’s length for most of the third term, but despite Hislop’s second, inaccuracy was again an issue.
Vickery converted a free kick and received the congratulations of the entire side to edge the margin out to 24 points, but the Eagles finished the quarter strongly with goals to Matt Rosa and Adam Selwood to draw within 11 at the last change.
West Coast looked the fresher of the two sides going into the last, but Morton – fed by Cousins, then Jackson – burst back onto the scene with two goals inside three minutes, making things difficult for the Eagles.
Naitanui climbed high but sent his checkside set shot crashing into the post. LeCras kept his side in it with his second, but Edwards answered late in the game to start the celebrations in the stands.

CARETAKER COACH

G’Day Folks

Firstly the least said about last night the better.
It was woeful,I was asked by someone which will be Richmond’s bad quarter, try
the last two quarters,15 points in one half of football.
I am sure it was not the finish Terry Wallace wanted.
Quite clearly the present Richmond Football club are not fit,or not mentally tough
enough to play 4 quarters of football each week.
They look good for two quarters and then fall apart,I would suggest a clean out would
be required at the end of the year and that can include all areas of the Club.

If you haven’t heard Jade Rawlings has been appointed Coach for the rest of the year, one out of left field, but let’s face it the blokes Coaching at the moment are not doing the
greatest job in the world.
Good luck Jade you are going to need it,but hopefully he can bring some enthusiasm
into the club and the last 11 games aren’t a waste of time.
Interesting to see Terry Wallace make a comment that Richmond need to be a more skilled side, funny that,I thought that’s part of a Coach’s job,to improve the players skill level.

Despite the disappointing result again another good turnout at the Camelia Grove Hotel.
I had to laugh when two token Bulldogs supporters turned up,given that their group also watch games at the Camelia Grove Hotel, their President wasn’t even there.
It’s a bit rich getting taunted by two people, and also being told that we will become
the West Sydney Tigers.
The Bulldogs are a winning club and still can’t get a following, imagine if Richmond were
in their position.

So thanks to those who keep turning up each week and supporting our group.

Just one important point,we are lucky that we can make as much noise as we like
and enjoy ourselves, can we also please be aware that as a recognized supporter group that we have a code of conduct to adhere to.
So please can we conduct oursleves in a positive manner,I know we sometimes get frustrated at particular players and we vent our frustration.
But please no swearing our homophobic comments,we have a diverse group and sometimes these types of comments can offend.
Thank you for your understanding,we don’t want to discourage people to come along and have a good time,so feel free to cheer as much as you like

JADE RAWLINGS APPOINTMENT

UPDATE 1.15: RICHMOND president Gary March says Nathan Buckley is among those he will be sounding out for the coaching job next year.
March’s comments come as Tigers assistant coach Jade Rawlings was appointed caretaker coach for the remainder of the season this morning.

Rawlings, who will take the reins from Terry Wallace for the next 11 weeks, said he has the full confidence of his assistants and players.

“I’m very humbled and extremely excited,” Rawlings said a short time ago.

“Quarter past 10 I found out this morning so I’ve had a fair headspin in the last hour and a half and I had the privilege of speaking to the players at 11.30.

“It’s all happened pretty quickly and I’ll coach Coburg tomorrow … and finish that off well and then there’ll be a series of planning meetings about how things are going to look moving forward.”

“The support I’ve had already from the assistant coaches and the players has been outstanding.

“The main thing I pointed out (to the players this morning) was that one season’s gone and a new one’s started and we really want to give it new life in the second half of the year.”
Asked if he was ready for the responsibility, Rawlings said: “I don’t think age really comes into it. I finished (playing) when I was 28. The club has some great people in senior management and they’ve gone through a process and have been very thorough in what they want to do.”

March said Rawlings was chosen because of his coaching experience with Coburg and because it would cause the least disruption to the support staff already in place.

March also said Rawlings’ caretaker roll in no way meant he was front-runner to coach the club next year, saying the club would be speaking to “any quality person” interested in taking the Richmond coaching job next year, including Nathan Buckley and current assistant Wayne Campbell.

Coaching legend Kevin Sheedy’s name has even been tossed up as a candidate for the job.

“We would be sounding out any quality person of the ilk of Nathan or any of the other people who are out there,” March said on SEN radio today.
“We won’t discount anyone in the process. We’ll through an exhaustive process as we did when we replaced Greg Miller … and we’ll get the right person for the Richmond Football Club.”

Rawlings was named as Terry Wallace’s successor at 11.30am.
The decision comes after Wallace’s last game last night where the Tigers were smashed by 68 points by the Bulldogs.
Rawlings beat three others to the roles – fellow Tiger assistants Wayne Campbell, David King, and Craig McRae – and will take the reins for the first time against West Coast next Saturday night.
Rawlings played 148 games with Hawthorn, Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne between 1996-2006. This year he has been coaching Richmond’s VFL affiliate, Coburg.
