Hello to all Tigers Supporters
Travelled to Melbourne on Sunday February 24 for fan day.
A very successful trip, was able to get some items signed to be auctioned at our Function.
Terry Wallace presented the full squad on stage and gave a run down on each individual player, most are fit and well, with the exception of Trent Cotchin who will be due back in Round 3.
Given that he is just 17 years of age and has a long career ahead, the club does not want to rush him back.
It looks as though a few of the boys have added some much needed muscle and I am a married man but I must say they are a very impessive looking group of men.
By all accounts the performance against Melbourne was much improved on the St Kilda game.
It will be interesting to see how they perform against the Swans this week,as they are always a good yardstick.
It is also worth pointing out that Terry Wallace explained why Kane Johnson was retained as Captain.
The leadership were unanimous in reappointing Kane as Captain,as were the match committee.
Kane Johnson does cop his share of criticism but you can’t ask more than the support of your peers.
Terry also pointed out there were many clubs with off field problems, this is not a case at Richmond for which Kane Johnson and the other leaders must take credit for.
I can also update those that are interested in the Centerary Dinner, had a chat to Stephen Wright.
It will take place on Friday June 27 at 7-00PM at Crown Towers Hotel.
Dress for males is Black Tie,Cost of Tickets 3 Categories $750-00,$500-00 & $250-00.
Tickets will be available to purchase in the next few weeks.
The Sydney Tigers group have a few events planned and are outlined in the above link,Richmond in Sydney 2008.
With regards to the after match function at Paddington/Woollahra RSL at this stage the capacity for this function is 300,I am attempting to get the capacity increased.
The cheer squad have already requested 100 tickets and there could be a large number of corporate sponsors travelling up for the game.
As a result I cannot stress enough that if you wish to go to this event purchase your tickets early, they are only $2-00 each and available now.
The function to be held on Saturday May 31 at City Hotel ,the evening before the game, promises to be a good night,a very nice venue.
There will be platters of food, many Richmond signed auction items and hopefully an ex legend of the club.
Negotiating to try and get Geoff Raines to attend.
The committee of the Sydney Tigers will sit down in the next week to work out a cost for this event.
If you need and more information in regards to planned events, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Richmond have been defeated by St Kilda by 40 points,111 to 71 in the first round of the NAB Cup.
There was a great turn up at the Camelia Grove Hotel(Formerly Sports Inn) to watch the game.
Like me they probably have missed their fix of footy and couldn’t wait for it to start again.
A big thank you to all those who attended,it is always a good night, win or lose and we hope to see as many of you on Thursday the 20th of March for Round 1 against Carlton.
In the case of Richmond’s performance, new season but same result unfortunately.
Again Richmond’s skill level was shown to be wanting against a St Kilda team missing some of it’s stars, but were still quite impressive.
Too many times Richmond players missed their target by hand or foot and must work on rectifying this, they also allowed St Kilda too rebound from defence too easily often resulting in them kicking a goal.
But we must always remain positive,it’s only a practice game,so hopefully by Round 1 they will be up and running and at their best.
I think it is asking a bit too much too be thinking top 8,but as long as the team plays attractive footy and has a crack each week, that’s all we can ask.
So it’s back to the training paddock,to work on those skills, and off to Cairns next week to play the loser of Melbourne and Geelong.
Am thinking of arranging a Pre Season launch to coincide with the final of the NAB Cup,will get back to you with more details.

Not long now folks, Round 1 of the NAB CUP,Richmond play St Kilda on Friday
February 15 at the Telstra Dome at 7-40 pm.
This game will be shown on Fox 518,so we will be gathering at the Camelia Grove Hotel situated at 146 Henderson Road Alexandria to watch the game.
The Camelia Grove has a great bistro so you can enjoy a meal before watching the game.
Can those on the Committee please get there by 7-00PM for a committee meeting prior to the game.
The Tigers held a practice match over the weekend and with the exception of Trent Cotchin all players are fit and well.
Much better situation than last year, when a number of players were carrying injuries,I am hopeful with a developing list and the return of some key players, that this will be a good year for the Tigers.
Modestly I can say that after watching Jake King play in a practice match against Sydney at Canberra last year,I predicted that Jake King would be a good un and he didn’t let me down.
This year I will stick my neck out and say that Travis Casserly will be one to watch out for.
There have been pretty good wraps on him but he has had problems with injury, but by all accounts he impressed in the practice match from the backline.
Hopefully there will be lots of competition for places in the Senior team, meaning every one will have to play well to earn their spot.
Should the Tigers win on Friday night, they will be playing the winner of Geelong and Melbourne at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Saturday the 23rd of February.
That will give those who are keen a chance to watch the boys play and get up close and personal at a traditional AFL ground.
Hope to see as many of you on Friday night, can’t wait.
Regards
